Magic and Variety Gala Show

Take what you think you know about magic and then think again!

Edinburgh International Magic Festival returns for its fifth year and begins with a spectacular Opening Night Gala at The Lyceum.
Come enjoy a magical mix of breath-taking illusion, sleight-of-hand, circus and mind reading!

Lukas (South Korea) brings a sense of poetic artistry with his visual manipulation techniques. He will perform his multi-award winning act for the first time in Scotland.

Rob Zabrecky (USA) invents a magical world through a series of strange and beautiful effects which he combines with remarkable timing and sensational theatrical edifice. Zabrecky sets the stage for everyday life, then sets it on fire.

Max Guito (France), past French Champion of Magic, creates a universe where technology fuses with magic in his high-energy cutting-edge act.

Xavier Tapias (Spain) A beautiful experiment with life that transforms into one of the most original acts in magic - Xavier is a creative magic inventor who likes to bring to life inert objects.

R Paul Wilson (UK) is star of the BBC’s ‘The Real Hustle’ and a world-renowned expert on cheating, con games and conjuring. Witness this sleight of hand master in action...

Archer and Smith (UK) take you back to the good old days of the Music Hall, when men were men and suits were double breasted. Prepare to be bemused.

Colin Cloud (UK) has the ability to deduce everything about you. Everything. And, undoubtedly, he will - as he attempts to read the entire audience at this year’s Gala Show.

Ainsley Hamill & Neil Kelso (UK) The Queen of Hearts and Mad Hatter will sing your heads off with twisted versions of modern songs.

Compèred by Nigel Mead (UK) “Truly amazing” – Steven Spielberg

The winner of the Great Lafayette Award 2014 will be announced during the evening Gala.
