Puck’s Wise Words (by Cat)
Puck’s ending speech from A Midsummers Night Dream, to me rounds up the beauty, expectation and enjoyment of theatre.
The theatre speaks to us and takes us away to another place, sometimes fun and magical and sometimes dark and disturbing. Either way we are led into a world of emotion and attachment. We become part of the stories ourselves. Puck reminds us of this and sweetly apologises if feeling have been hurt, reminding us it was not real but can be seen as a dream...but letting us not forget we have our own responsibility to events around us. Wise words.
