So, I had the pleasure and privilege of working at The Lyceum in the early 80's, when Ian Wooldridge had just been appointed Artistic Director and Hugh Hodgart (Hodge) was his Associate Director. I played The Snow Queen in The Snow Queen and Morgana Le Fey in Merlin The Magnificent. They were, indeed, magnificent shows. Wonderful sets and the costume department surpassed themselves, especially with my Snow Queen costume. And it was very gratifying to see the "House Full" sign outside for every show !!
I also played Maria in Twelfth Night for Hugh, alongside the splendid Roy Boucher as Malvolio. This was part of the first rep season with Ian at the helm. It included an excellent Woyzeck, Arms and the Man and Dr. Faustus ending with the above mentioned very popular The Snow Queen. I returned to The Lyceum later in the 80's to play Charlotta Ivanova in The Cherry Orchard with the lovely Edith McCarthur as Madame Ranevskaya. Costumes and sets as amazing as always. There was always a very warm atmosphere at The Lyceum.
