Help Us Be Greener
The Lyceum is committed to reducing our environmental impact across all of our practices and are proud members of Creative Carbon Scotland’s Green Arts Initiative
In 2017, The Lyceum became one of the first theatres in Scotland to install beehives and we are delighted to be playing a small part in reducing the decline of the honeybee. However, would still like to do more in order to make the theatre as environmentally efficient as possible. Our beautiful theatre building dates from 1883 and with our last major refurbishment over 20 years ago there are significant initial costs involved in making the building environmentally sustainable.
In the next 5 years, we are aiming to:
- Replace our diesel company vehicle with an electric operated one
- Install LED lights throughout the Front of House areas
- Replace our ageing boiler system; a more efficient system would significantly reduce our carbon impact
Green initiatives such as these will help us lessen our impact on the environment and mean that we can direct our limited financial resources towards artistic programming and our vital outreach work in the community and with young people.
