Help Young Talent Thrive

Being part of the youth programmes at The Lyceum has made a difference to 1,750 young people this past year alone. It has developed their ambitions and confidence, developed friendships, and enhanced their ability to work together as a team, putting forward their own ideas and creating something special.

This Christmas, The Lyceum is raising money for our youth outreach programmes. The Lyceum takes our already established youth theatre out to children and young adults in areas of deprivation around Edinburgh. We also take our Christmas show out — this year Wendy and Peter Pan — and share it, and closely linked educational sessions, with close to 1,000 children over the course of the season.

Nicole Wilson, 17, who attended LYT Discover explains the impact The Lyceum has had on her life.

“I discovered The Lyceum at an after-school drama club. I have been a pupil at Craigroyston Community High School since 2014 and The Lyceum team delivered these amazing drama sessions. They encouraged me to explore drama with my friends and the group soon became a second home to me as realised how much I loved theatre.

I was inspired by what I experienced, and as my involvement continued through secondary school, I began to think about my exams and plans for the future. I took drama at National level and went on to do the Higher. This summer, I was proud to be able to join the team at The Lyceum for work experience; I had a brilliant time and hope I added to the creative energy! This confirmed to me my desire to work within drama and theatre in the future.

I never thought I would be able to take drama all the way to the end of my school career, but thanks to The Lyceum’s commitment to allowing children across Edinburgh to access the arts, I have been inspired and encouraged to follow my dreams.”

Any gift, of any size will make a difference. Thank you.
