We’re delighted to be offering a new strand of sessions and workshops for adults in 2017 to inspire those of you keen to do more than simply watch a show. They offer opportunities to engage with The Lyceum in a practical and fun way.

AN INSIGHT INTO...
This workshop offers participants an opportunity to meet with a member of the creative team from one of The Lyceum’s productions. It’s a chance to get insights into the staging of the show and ask questions.

ACTING COURSE FOR AGE 60+
This series of workshops is for anyone over 60 who would like to tread the boards. Whether you’re new to drama, or you’re a seasoned amateur, these workshops offer something for everyone. There will be some script work, a chance to devise short scenes and a lot of fun.
• Duration 120 minutes.

ACTING WORKSHOP
Seen a production and want to try to perform a few scenes yourself? This is the practical workshop for you. You’ll explore the current Lyceum production with one of our Drama Artists and explore key scenes and acting styles, from the farce and melodrama of Noël Coward to the pacing and dialogue of Shakespeare. These sessions offer an even deeper insight into each show and a great opportunity to learn new skills.
• Suitable for 18+ and any level of
experience.
• Duration 90 minutes

SCRIPT CLUB
This group is for anyone who likes the idea of a book group, but has always wanted one for plays! Rather than reading the book, you come and see the show and then have the chance to talk about it with some of your fellow audience members. The discussion will be chaired by one of The Lyceum’s Creative Learning team who’ll be able to shed light on how the production came together.
• Suitable for all ages 18+
• Duration 90 minutes

INTRODUCTION TO DIRECTING WITH TONY COWNIE
Ever seen a show and thought you would like to be a director? Now is your opportunity. This one day workshop offers you the chance to learn about directing a performance, from basic concepts of staging and terminology, to tips and techniques, culminating with the chance to put your new skills into practice to direct a small cast of young actors. Lead by Tony Cownie, a former Associate Artist at The Lyceum who audience will know from Thon Man
Molière
and The Venetian Twins among many other projects.
• Limited capacity. Maximum of 8 participants.
• Suitable for all abilities and ages 18+
