Curtain Up Crafters: Printing Onto Fabric
This workshop is suitable for families with children aged 5+. Please note that an adult is required to be present on the Zoom to comply with our child protection policy and to help with any use of scissors.
Join Elspeth Chapman, designer, puppeteer and facilitator to explore how everyday objects can be used to create stamps to print onto fabric and design your own patchwork square. There are lots of objects around your home you could use – some suggestions are below but almost anything goes! See what you can find and we’ll explore what textures they make in the workshop.
You will need:
· At least one 17cm by 17cm square of natural, non-stretch fabric to print on to - cotton is ideal but any fabric scrap would do. You could cut up an old t-shirt, bedsheet or pillowcase. If you don’t have fabric for the workshop, white A4 paper is an alternative.
· Acrylic or fabric paint
· A paintbrush or roller
· Objects to print with (suggestions are potatoes, lemons, forks, buttons, string, leaves, bubblewrap)
· Optional equipment: cardboard, scissors, glue
· It is also recommended that you have some newspaper or a wipeable tablecloth to cover surfaces
This workshop is FREE but booking is required. Bookings will close 3 hours before the start time of the workshop, and a Zoom link with login details will be emailed to you in advance. Please contact our Creative Learning Producer with any questions or for more information.
