Let us transport you to a magical and musical world with workshops, arts and crafts, and a chance to step behind the red curtain with tours, costumes and props to explore, as well as our scavenger hunt and story trail.
Join us at The Lyceum as we throw open the doors for a fun-filled family day inspired by our Christmas show, The Arabian Nights.

Throughout the day - no need to book, suitable for all ages.
- SCAVENGER HUNT
Giant letters have been hidden in books around the building; find them all and then un-jumble the word to be in with the chance of winning a family ticket to The Arabian Nights!
- ARABIAN ARTS & CRAFTS
Get creative with our selection of Arabian Nights themed craft activities
- STORYTELLING
Listen to magical stories amongst our comfy pillows and cushions
- COSTUMES DISPLAY
Play dress-up with The Lyceum’s costumes, transform yourself into a character and take a photo to remember the day
Free Activities
Booking required. Booking will open 30 minutes before the advertised start time at The Lyceum Box Office.
- BACKSTAGE TOURS
10.30am, 11am, 12.15pm, 12.45pm, 2pm, 2.30pm
Go on a backstage adventure and explore the spaces in the Lyceum not usually open to the public, learning about the history of the building as you go.
- DRAMA WORKSHOP – MAGIC CARPET RIDE (Ages 4 - 7)
10.45am and 1.15pm, running time: approx 45 mins
Hop on our magical carpet ride to explore the world of Arabian Nights! Our storytellers will guide you on the right path to ensure your three wishes come true.
- DRAMA WORKSHOP – STORYMAKERS (Ages 8 - 11)
12pm and 2.45pm, running time: approx 45 mins
Featuring fun-filled drama games and activities, create 1001 stories in this practical workshop using the original Arabian Nights stories as inspiration.
Workshops carry age guidelines but all children are welcome. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Workshops are lead by experienced Lyceum Youth Theatre tutors.
