Teechers & A Midsummer Night’s Dream

This double bill is a culmination of three of our Summer On Stage 2019 projects, which have seen over 60 young people come together to develop and produce these two pieces of theatre in just two and three weeks respectively. Both performances are fully supported by Lyceum staff, as well as a team of 10 young people who have spent a fortnight experiencing working behind the scenes in roles from sound and lighting to costume design and stage management.

Teechers by John Godber
Set in the present day, a group of unruly school leavers are putting on a show about their school, but the drama resource cupboard hasn’t been updated since 1984 and the caretaker doesn’t want them in the hall. Directed by Sophie Howell, this production is a comedic and anarchic performance that pokes fun at a dissatisfactory education system.

A Midsummer Night’s Dream by William Shakespeare
Dramaturgy by Becky Hope-Palmer

Unrequited love flourishes in possibly the most magical of Shakespeare’s comedies. Directed by Katie Mitchell, this production is full of stories, love and wonder, following a group of rebellious young players who discover and re-enact an adult world of order and disorder.

Please note: this production is presented as a double bill, and there is some strong language featured in Teechers. If you would like more information, please contact us.
