About 60+ Acting Summer 26 - Tuesday
The Summer 2026 term will go on sale at 2pm on Thursday 26 February.
There is no priority booking period for this term – the above date is the same whether you are a new or existing member. Any queries can be directed to adultlearning@lyceum.org.uk.
Meeting weekly, our adult acting groups offer the opportunity for theatre enthusiasts aged 60 and over to come together and take part in practical workshops exploring performance skills, scripts, practitioners and different theatre specialisms.
During the Summer 2026 term we will be exploring 21st century drama and comedy. Through performance techniques, script work and improvisation, we will trace the roots of modern drama and comedy from the skills of commedia dell’arte and Greek chorus all the way to contemporary performance today, drawing on sources including the Lyceum’s mainstage productions of Sweat by Lynn Nottage and Black Diamonds and the Blue Braziladapted by Gary McNair from the book by Ron Ferguson. Participants can expect to discover more about how a compelling modern drama or comedy functions on the page and in performance, and how an actor approaches their role in a contemporary production.
All levels of skill and experience are welcome, whether you’re a seasoned performer or just want to try something new! We run two groups that each receive the same content each week, so there is no need to attend both.
