This is an exciting opportunity for a Human Resources professional who is passionate about people and wellbeing and wants to contribute towards the growth and the strategic HR goals of The Lyceum.

Supporting the Executive Team in all aspects of the HR function, the HR Manager will provide a comprehensive, professional HR service across the Royal Lyceum Theatre Company.  Encompassing strategic, operational, and administrative priorities, they will be the main source of HR advice and guidance. 

This is a full-time (35 hours per week), fixed-term post running for six months, to start as soon as possible.

Job Description
  • Provide Professional HR advice to Senior Management Team, ensure best practice on current regulation compliance, including accepted professional standards, policies and procedures and legislation
  • Manage complex employee relations including dispute resolutions, disciplinaries, grievances, absence, retirement, and redundancy. Apply HR and business knowledge to support management with the application of any formal procedures
  • Responsible for driving improvements across Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion in line with Company procedure and legislation
  • Continuously improve engagement and welfare activities, maximising productivity, devolving HR responsibilities to line managers, and building leadership capability.  Identify HR trends so that attention can be directed to key issues and resources
  • Lead the annual performance process and training and development budgets, working with managers to produce training and development plans
  • Develop HR Strategies In collaboration with the Executive Team to support Company goals and visions. Manage the execution of the HR Strategy
  • Liaise with union representatives in relation to any changes
  • Preparation of management information reports to support and inform the decision-making process or external reporting requirements
  • Manage all elements of the recruitment and on-boarding process, preparing job adverts, collating applications, setting up interview arrangements, issue offer letters and contracts to successful candidates and facilitate induction training to ensure smooth transition
  • Oversee the effective application of HR systems, ensuring accurate data management and ongoing application of confidentiality and security
  • Ensure internal HR communications, including any issues, initiatives and programmes are well planned, coordinated, relevant, timely and adhere to the company’s values. Make sure that company values and approach are utilised to strengthen the organisational culture
Person Specification

Essential

  • CIPD Qualified.

  • Strong generalist HR knowledge.

  • Strong employee relations experience.

  • Experience of working and negotiating with Trade Unions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to build effective relationships.

  • Ability to regularly overcome obstacles whilst maintaining a positive attitude.

  • Ability to work under own initiative and as part of a team.

  • Attention to detail.

Desirable

  • Experience in the Charity Sector.

  • Active interest in theatre.
