News Story

Once more unto the breach, dear friends (wrong play, I know). The Lyceum has just announced its new 22/23 season and kicking off 2023 is Zinnie Harris’ new adaptation of Macbeth, Macbeth (an undoing). But don’t be fooled, things don’t just start happening on productions as a season is launched, work on our upcoming plays began months ago. There is a lot of work that goes into putting on a main stage production. A lot of planning, creative brains and coffee. Many departments have to work together behind the scenes, to get things organised, sourced and finished before we even set foot in a rehearsal studio with the cast.

If you are here, you must be interested in theatre and what we do...or you’re just super nosy (I like you already). As you are reading this, casting for Macbeth has begun, development days organised, initial set and costume designs are being critiqued, scripts are being written and re-written (this will continue right up until rehearsals start in January), creative teams are being hired and production meetings put into place. All top secret to those within these walls...until now. Follow me and I will take you on the journey from page to stage, sneaky peeks through closed doors and glimpses into the life of a theatre putting on an original play.
