Kingdom Brass

Kingdom Brass was formed in August 1999 after the amalgamation of the Cowdenbeath and the Kelty & Blairadam Bands.

The band competed for the first time at the Fife Championships of 1999, and easily swept the boards at that event. In the years since, the band has won numerous trophies, and is now firmly established as one of Scotland's top bands.

An early highlight for the band was competing at the National Finals in the Royal Albert Hall in 2000.

Kingdom Brass has achieved success both locally and nationally with its successes including being awarded the title of Scottish Band of the year 2000 and 2001, 15 times winners of the Fife Charities contest, 7 times winners of the Fife Brass Band Festival, Forth Valley Contest winners 2001 and Land O'Burns contest winners 2011.

The band was placed third at the Scottish Championships in both 2008 and 2012, a feat that had not been achieved by a Fife band in 30 years.

The band has also tasted success in UK national level contests, winning the 2006 Senior Trophy competition, gaining third place at the 2009 Senior Cup and a second place at the 2014 Senior Cup.

In 2002 the band was invited to compete at the European Open Brass Band Championships in Lucerne, Switzerland. The band was invited back for the 2003 contest.

In 2011 Kingdom Brass represented Scotland at the European Brass Band Championships, which were held in Montreux, Switzerland.

In 2020 the band won the Scottish Championships (First Section) which qualified them for the National Finals.

Following an 18 month delay due to Covid-19 the band were crowned National Champions (First Section) 2021.

Aside from competition, the band performs its concert repertoire at concerts and bandstand events and can be seen marching at local Gala days.

Now based in Kelty, Kingdom Brass operates a youth band providing opportunity to the next generation of brass players.
