Theatre Restoration Levy

From May 2024, we’ll be adding £1.50 booking fee per transaction to go toward investing in our venue.

We want to continue to create theatre in Edinburgh, and share the best of international theatre with Scotland. And to do that we need to protect the beautiful building that is our home.

The Royal Lyceum Theatre building is an A Listed building which is over 140 years old. It requires love, attention, and money to keep it open and thriving. A transaction fee dedicated to our building will allow us to do just that.

We’ve resisted adding additional fees for as long as possible, however with rising maintenance and utilities costs we’re unable to continue to keep making theatre, while keeping our building to a standard it deserves through ticket sales alone.

Short-term, these funds will help make vital repairs to The Lyceum’s existing infrastructure. Long-term, they will help us make future-proof improvements, develop the building, and become a more environmentally friendly and sustainable venue.

We will be completely transparent with you about where these funds go with an annual update on our website.

We know additional fees can be frustrating, so thank you in advance for supporting us to keep going. The Lyceum is a registered charity, so if this information has inspired you to help us further you can donate in the link below.
