About Lyceum Youth Theatre Advance

For ages 16 - 19.

Three term course.

  • Autumn Term:  23 Oct – 9 Dec
  • Spring Term: 13 Jan – 17 Mar (no session 17 Feb)
  • Summer Term: 28 Apr – 16 Jun

Lyceum Youth Theatre Advance is for young people who are serious about developing their theatre skills and are thinking about studying drama at college or university, or pursuing a career in the performing arts.

Throughout the year, you'll build your confidence as a performer through audition and monologue preparation, workshops with industry professionals, and training that develops your performance skills and creative practice. You'll also learn how to work confidently in rehearsal, collaborate with others, and develop your own artistic voice.

The course runs across three 8-week terms from October to June, with sessions on Wednesdays, 5–7pm.

As part of the programme, participants will also have the opportunity to perform in a fully scripted production, either at The Lyceum or another venue. Previous opportunities have included productions as part of National Theatre Connections.

The course costs £200 per term, with a number of subsidised and bursary places available. To join, you'll be asked to complete a short application.

Testimonies from Lyceum Youth Theatre Members

"Absolutely loving LYT - thank you so much for all the hard work that you guys put in!"

"She was buzzing last week after the session."

"…we think the classes and your whole organisation is brilliant"

"Thank you again for all these possibilities for X to get involved."

"X does enjoy the richness offered by LYT and will return after exams. She has been thinking about possibly applying to drama school in the future (as well as broadcast journalism or media!) and I think LYT helps with her confidence for that. It's a great space outside of school and with a diverse group of people different to school."
